First and foremost Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all the readers. Hope the season brings out lots of happiness and light in everyone’s life. We had a Christmas long weekend and I’m sure you must have made the most of it.
India is changing at an exponential rate and we all just need a reason to step out of our homes and offices to explore the malls, or that little food nook or find any other activities to do in the city. Also, since its Christmas, the decorations tempt us more to step out and not be a home bears. However, the long weekend definitely leads to all the places being even more crowded and the long Mumbai traffic jams get worse during the festive season.
So this year we decided to escape the city and look for options which are less secluded but not far away from Mumbai. We took our car and started our way towards the Nashik express highway, keeping no specific destination in mind.
We started from Borivali, the initial part while driving out of the city was less exhausting as the traffic was moderate. After crossing Dombivali, the landscapes simply changed to tall mountains and clear blue sky. The Nashik highway is really smooth offering alluring views on either side. We drove for 3 hours, including a quick halt at our very own Mc. Donalds. You can find McD and CCD in every other corner of the city and highway.
We reached Igatpuri enjoying our coffee and since it was a one day trip, we decided Igatpuri as our destination and started to look out for various restaurants and resorts available nearby.
After crossing out several options like Rainforest, Manas, and Dewdrop (in case you’ll like to visit one), we finally decided to visit Fortune Luxury Resorts.
It’s a decent property surrounded by Sahyadri. The staffs of the resort are very friendly, polite and helpful. Since we were starving, we went straight to the resort which had a small but decent menu. The food menu included basic Indian food like Dal Tadka, Paneer Kadai, Roti, Kulcha, etc. They had options for nonveg as well. In a true sense, the food was Masaledar and definitely will satisfy your Indian taste buds. Since it was Christmas we got complimentary strawberry ice cream and plum cake. YAY!!!
After eating a delicious and healthy lunch, we went near the poolside area to laze around. Sometimes all we need is to relax our body, mind, and muscles. You can rejuvenate and pamper yourself with a variety of Spa and massage and the price of which is also quite reasonable. No one likes to hit the gym when on vacation, but if you’re fitness freak then you can find the gym at the resort where you won’t spot anyone and can get an entire gym for yourself. Yay!! The perks of working out during vacation.
You can also hit the game room to play snooker, carrom, table tennis, fuss ball, chess, etc.
Take a dip in the center pool zone and get the party started.
You can stay there for a day and explore the nearby place. There is a dam which is 4km away from the resort and few small treks if you would like to hike. As we went only for a day, after playing a couple of games we headed back to Mumbai, which by the way was a nightmare because of traffic. It took us a full 5 hours to reach home. Sigh! So if you’re planning for a day out be prepared to find some traffic while returning.
